Remote Data Backup
Absorb's Data Transfer Security

The managed appliance (Client Network Agent) that will reside on the client network is a highly customized server that will maintain links between the two active networks.

The first link is to the secure local client network and will conform to whatever network connectivity requirements are made available by the client IT Administrators. The second and most important link is to the Absorb.com Network Operation Center (NOC). That remote connection is secured by a VPN (L2TP/IPSec) encapsulated session. This appliance and only this appliance will be allowed access to the Absorb.com NOC (Filtered by MAC address). Client data will be synchronized via the Client Network Agent through this secure link and into the remote backup environment.

Access to the remote backup environment is also encrypted by a 256 bit SSL certificate. This link bit security can be increased as the bit encryption technology evolves and is made available to the public. This 99% browser compatible SSL certificate can also be used to secure backup web / email services that may reside in this remote backup environment.

Absorb's Uniquely Redundant Infrastructure

Absorb was founded by a partnership of IT professionals who weathered Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans with 0% data loss. All of our knowledge prior to that disaster and knowledge learned in its wake point to a vital flaw in conventional data storage configurations.

While all remote data backup companies have redundant connections, power sources and cooling systems, not much effort has been placed on escaping the grasp of equipment failure ... until Absorb.

Absorb uses a cutting edge Virtual Container Infrastructure to house each clients unique presence. The containers that house your data aren't installed into or reside on a particular piece of equipment, they have the ability to float across our network from one device to another. Multiple running images of your data can reside on different areas of our network and move, on our command, from primary to secondary equipment to backups and so fourth, all in the name of business continuity.

Absorb's Location

Absorb's primary storage locations are protected by dual amp 3-phase power, extensive battery backup systems and caterpillar generators to maintain power and connectivity in the rare event of an external interruption.

Knowledgable staff and 24/7 security monitoring systems are in place to detect fire, unauthorized individuals or any other threats to data integrity, while several redundant cooling systems keep our servers, routing equipment and all of your data happy and operating at full potential.

Absorb's Network

Absorb resides on an extensive Netstream fiber optic network.
The fiber network delivers multi-gigabit throughput and packet-per-second capability allowing us to move the massive amounts of data necessary for unprecedented redundancy.

Dedicated links between interconnect facilities, peering relationships, and direct connections to multiple Tier-1 providers like Level 3, Sprint, TW Telecom, and others enables Absorb to deliver consistent network uptime and performance.
